Working alongside our client as part of the wider Portsmouth City Council Sea Defence Scheme, designed to protect more than 10,000 homes and 700 businesses while enhancing the seafront, we played a key role in the ongoing beach recharge works.

Working closely with the project team, we managed the placement and movement of over one million tonnes of shingle pumped onto the beach from a dredger operating off the Isle of Wight. The dredged shingle was initially pumped into a storage bunker before being managed by our plant and operators, who distributed the material onto the beach and continually relocated it to raise and extend the shoreline in accordance with the project requirements.

The works were successfully completed on schedule, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week over a four-week period. Throughout the project, engineers were rotated to provide continuous coverage, while additional operators were deployed on site to maintain productivity and ensure seamless operations during rolling breaks.
