Contract Description

Les Searle secured the contract to construct two lined reservoirs south of Chichester, West Sussex, providing 100,000m3 of water storage for crop irrigation through the summer months.

Les Searle engineers worked with the Consulting Engineer to develop a suitable 3D design model for use in construction taking into to consideration planning requirement and existing ground water levels.

Material excavated from within the central areas was placed and compacted around the perimeters to form structural core and embankment. Principle resources used included 50t excavator, 40t dumptrucks, self-propelled rollers and GPS Caterpillar dozers for level control and final shaping. Both reservoirs were lined with over 40,000m2 of HDPE membrane and overflow outfalls installed.    

In total 60,000m3 of material was moved with the project completed safely on programme
