Celebrating 50 Years of Les Searle Earthmoving Ltd

For five decades, Les Searle Earthmoving Ltd has been shaping landscapes and building futures. What started as a family business has grown into a trusted name in the construction industry, thanks to our commitment to quality, innovation, and community values.

Our Story

The Searle family’s roots in Horsham go back to 1913, when they relocated from Coolham and began farming the land they later purchased in 1921. After the Second World War, the family diversified from agricultural contracting into construction, contributing to major projects such as Gatwick Airport, the M1 motorway, local road schemes, and quarry operations.

In 1976, Les Searle Earthmoving Ltd was established, continuing this proud tradition. Over 25 years ago, Les and Dee took the reins, and today their children, Les and Tom, are integral members of the team—working alongside a dedicated management group and skilled operators, many of whom have been with us for over a decade.

What We Do Today

We remain active in quarry operations and support a wide range of construction projects, including:

Site preparation for housing and infrastructure

Sports ground construction

Reservoir development

Coastal defence schemes

MOD Contracts

Our investment in state-of-the-art plant machinery and skilled people ensures we deliver exceptional results while creating local jobs and apprenticeships. We are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and operating responsibly for a sustainable future.

Our Values

As a family-run company, social values are at the heart of what we do. We proudly support local charities, community initiatives, and sports teams, ensuring we give back to the communities we serve.

Here’s to the next 50 years of progress, partnership, and pride in our work.
