Our past

The Les Searle Group are one of the largest privately owned specialist earthworks contractors in Southern England, having operated from the same family home and premises off Parsonage Road, Horsham, Sussex for over 100 years. A highly respected business, we began operating as agricultural engineers in 1913 and from the early days of steam threshing the business grew through ambition, hard work and an excellent reputation, qualities that have remained with us throughout our history.

The Horsham Traction Company

Operating under the name of the Horsham Traction Company, the Searles also own a number of restored steam engines which as a family drive to events in the Horsham area and as far as London, Dorset and beyond.

Les Searle Group continue to invest in the training and recruitment of staff, plant and equipment. Conscious of the enviromental impact and carbon footprint of the business and benefits of modern technology provides.
